Happy Weekend

This weekend I'm loving this great Etsy shop and especially this print:
And I definitely want to have a yummy prosciutto sandwich like this one, from French By Design.

Fishs Eddy NYC

Not that it would make any sense at all to do this, but if I were to one day get bored and decide that I want to start over and get all new stuff for our kitchen to make it look more like a cool diner, I'd go right to Fishs Eddy in NYC and get everything there. This place is amazing. I could get lost in there, and spend all my money. The flagship store is on Broadway right across the street from ABC Carpet and Home, another must-see store in NYC where I could easily blow my entire savings account. Maybe I'll just add a few of the Fishs Eddy pieces, instead of starting over. Yes, that makes more sense. Here's a few of my favorites from this great store.

Vintage plates, bowls, and mugs - they always have a ton of different kinds in the store.

 I totally need this mug.
Simple color band dinnerware open stock in a variety of colors.

Jadeite cake stand, and others in the Jadeite series
Manhattan blue plate special series bowls and serving trays

 Green glass butter dish

Wine Etiquette from A Cup of Jo

Did you know that you're supposed to only pour a third of a glass for red wine, half a glass for white, and three fourths for sparking? I did not, but now I do, thanks to this fun little wine etiquette guide from A Cup of Jo blog, with illustrations by Gemma Correll. A perfect lesson for wine drinking for the holidays, with funny but educational commentary and great illustrations. Check out the original post for the complete guide, and also be sure to check out Gemma's site for more of her very cool illustrations.

Cheers, and thanks to A Cup of Jo for sharing this post!

New Ideas Tuesday

A few of my favorite new ideas from the last week:

This awesome dresser renovation. But more than the dresser itself is the blog and the shop itself, The Modern Cottage Company. If I lived in the Seattle area I would definitely visit them often. She has an online shop so you can see all of her inventory, and make appointments to visit. Brilliant, I totally love it.  You'll probably see a few posts just for them in the future on my blog.
This fun little project for toddlers that I will be doing this winter, from A Happy Wanderer.
This little project using the leaves, via Pinterest, original source unknown.
A One Fish Two Fish sorting game from Oopsey Daisy.
And these awesome yummy looking pretzel treats from Squidoo

Two Fall Recipes I'm Drooling Over

I found these two recipes on Pinterest and I'm literally drooling over them. I think they'd be good all year long, but they seem like great Football Sunday appetizers. Think: a couple bits of these apps and then a bowl of chili. Mmmmm.

Pear, Walnut and Ricotta Crostini from Martha Stewart

Photo of the Day - Clover at Government Center

If you work in downtown Boston and you haven't tried Clover yet, you're missing out. They're part of the new food truck trend that's hit the city and they are one of the best. You'll find them parked at Government Center, South Station, and other areas around town and I highly recommend the Chickpea Sandwich and Rosemary Fries. Not for the meatatarian out there as it's all meat-free, but super delicious if you heart veggies like I do.

New Ideas

I missed Tuesday for new ideas Tuesday (see previous post for my excuse on why), but that's ok, Thursday will do for New Ideas day. Here's my top finds for the week:

I saw this awesome recycled vintage mirror idea a while ago and I'm happy to have rediscovered it. I love this idea. See more details on this great DIY from ECAB here.

This is a very cool idea for a sibling pic series. Must try after baby #2 arrives. I'll hope Bean is as gentle as this sweet older sibling. See more of Ray Law Photography here

Ok and this is just about the coolest idea EVER, for me especially since my husband doesn't drink wine much and I always end up tossing half a bottle because thankfully I can't usually drink that much in one sitting. Now I can feel ok about opening a bottle of wine and only drinking half of it. I can freeze the rest of it for cooking!! Totally the best idea ever from The Art of Doing Stuff here.
